Evening with Mary
The spiritual event for the month of October was “Evening with Mary”. It was held on the 18th of October at 6 pm in the compound of the Padre Pio Friary run by the Capuchin fathers (OFM Cap) at Moddi, Navelim. It was organized by the Franciscan Youth (YouFra) under the leadership of their Superior, Fr. Fransquinho, the Youth Animators Frs. Valerian and Alister, Fr. Domingo and the Franciscan brothers. The participants were requested to carry their personal Rosary beads to pray the Rosary prayer. The evening began with a short reflection on the meaning and history of the Holy Rosary, helping everyone understand its spiritual significance and importance in our daily lives.
As part of the prayer service, each decade of the Rosary was prayed in a unique and meaningful way, allowing everyone to participate wholeheartedly. One decade was recited in English or the other in Konkani, one decade was sung entirely. Gospel scenes were enacted and also a scene in the life of St. Padre Pio wherein he helped a teenage to overcome vices by praying the Rosary. The atmosphere was filled with devotion and peace as we meditated on the life of Jesus and His mother, Mary.
To conclude the Rosary, all participants formed a large circle symbolizing unity and togetherness. A special highlight of the evening was the release of the balloons arranged in the shape of a Rosary, a beautiful gesture representing our prayers rising to heaven.
After the spiritual segment, everyone gathered for a group photograph to capture the memorable moment and snacks, where the participants interacted, shared experiences, and strengthened the sense of community within the parish. Overall, “Evening with Mary” was a serene and faith-filled experience that brought everyone closer to Prayer and to one another.
